Be first on
last night’s snow
Be at the foot of the mountain before the gondola starts, and drop into slopes nobody has touched.
SNOW, SILENCE, AND THE ROAD
Seven days following the snow from mountain to mountain. See where it falls tonight, then choose tomorrow’s first run.
4WD & winter tires on every vehicle · Standard license OK* · Free airport shuttle · 2026/27 season
WHY POWDER, WHY WHEELS
Powder doesn’t wait. It falls overnight and is tracked out within a few hours of the lifts opening. When your bed moves with you, you can wake up in the parking lot of whichever mountain got the snow.
Be at the foot of the mountain before the gondola starts, and drop into slopes nobody has touched.
Will it dump on Niseko or on Asahidake? With no bookings to change, you can decide after dinner.
Thaw out in a hot spring, then head back to a heated bed in your camper. No unpacking, no check-in times.
Snow, Silence, and the Road.
A quiet powder road linking snowy peaks.
The color of the sky when you wake up decides where you go today.
The Journey — 7 Days
With no rooms to rebook, you can choose each day’s destination after seeing where the snow falls. Distances and times are measured on real road data (OSRM) and will change with snow and road closures. Plan on no more than 300 km a day.
Your first runs. In the evening, an onsen and a quiet place to park for the night.
Light, dry powder. If it keeps snowing, stay another night.
Catch the gondola in the morning light and ride all three mountains in a single day.
A single road threading through white forest. Ski Kiroro during the day, then sleep on the Sapporo side, because the nearest overnight spot closes in winter.
A drive across snowfields, then dry inland powder.
A world of rime ice and diamond dust.
One last morning run, then head home.
This is just one example. You can change the route on the day to suit the weather and snow. Our free Travel Support team can help you choose where to stay.
The Peaks of Hokkaido, One by One
Move freely between six mountains without booking a room. All of them are within driving distance of New Chitose Airport.
Feather-light powder. Four areas, from groomed runs to tree skiing, linked as one. The mountain where overseas guests stay the longest.
Varied terrain spread across three mountains. Take the first gondola and have the sunlit slopes to yourself.
Known for deep, consistent snow. Quiet intermediate runs wrapped in white forest. Good for families, too.
Dry powder made by the inland climate. Ski down through light falling into the birch forest.
Ride the ropeway up to 1,600 m. Ungroomed volcanic terrain and rime-frosted forest, with backcountry all around.
Tokachi’s famous clear skies: blue sky against white snow. Dry inland snow, open views and uncrowded days.

Choose Your Camper
What matters most for winter nights in a camper is whether the heating works with the engine off. 7 of our 9 vehicles list an FF heater in their equipment table. The Euro Box and Land Cruiser BAMBA do not (the BAMBA has heated seats, which are a different thing).

Tap a marker to see its name and what we confirmed. Seicomart convenience stores line almost every main road, so they are not shown on the map.
We list only sites that officially state they are open year-round and where we could confirm at least one of power, toilets, water or price (checked 16 September 2026 on each site’s official page, Kuruma-Tabi and municipal websites). None of them publish their snow-clearing status, so please call ahead before you go.
We checked 59 RV parks in Hokkaido one by one against official sites, Kuruma-Tabi and municipal websites (16 September 2026): 35 open year-round, 5 partly open and 18 closed in winter. We don’t recommend places we couldn’t confirm.
We’ll point you to the ones that stay open in winter. Please don’t stay overnight where parking or sleeping in vehicles is prohibited.
The rules are simple. We’ll go through them in a short briefing before you set off.
We’ll suggest where to sleep and bathe based on the weather and snow, and stay in touch by SMS throughout your trip. Every vehicle comes with 4WD and studless winter tires as standard, plus JAF roadside assistance.
