Central (Sapporo, Chitose, Otaru, Niseko, Rusutsu)(37)
Lift tickets are shown only for resorts whose 2026-27 prices we checked on the official site (regular-season adult 1-day counter price). Rental is shown only where this season's price is confirmed, and "Est. per day" (lift + rental set, excluding wear and parking) appears only where both are confirmed. Airport distance is by road (~ means estimated from a straight line).
How to read the costs
For a first-timer the cost is mainly three things: the lift ticket, the rental set and the wear. Jacket and pants are usually rented separately and are not included in the daily estimate. Parking is free at many resorts but not all, so check the official site.
What to bring (ski and snowboard)
Goggles (essential on snowy days)
Waterproof gloves
Hat or helmet (some resorts rent helmets)
Neck warmer
Thick socks
Moisture-wicking base layer
Sunscreen and lip balm
ID (sometimes required for rentals)
Cash (some mountain restaurants do not take cards)
Skis, boots and poles (or board and boots) are normally included in the rental set. Wear is usually extra, so bringing your own saves money.
FAQ
When do Hokkaido ski resorts open?
Most open from late November to early December and close between late March and early May. Dates shift each year, so check the 'Opens' line and each official site.
Can I go with nothing but rentals?
Skis, boots and poles can be rented at almost every resort. Wear, gloves and goggles are not always available, so check the official link on the card.
Can I sleep in a campervan in the resort car park?
Only a few resorts officially allow overnight parking. Where it is not allowed, use a nearby RV park or roadside station (michi-no-eki).
Which resort is closest to New Chitose Airport?
Use the 'Nearest airport' line and sort by distance. Several resorts around Sapporo are one to two hours from the airport.
How crowded are weekdays versus weekends?
Resorts rarely publish crowd numbers. Where an official site warns that weekend parking fills up, it is noted on the card. The New Year holidays and weekends in January and February are the busiest at popular resorts.
