The Hokkaido Camping Car & Outdoor Show 2026 was held over two days — Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30, 2026 — at the Access Sapporo Large Exhibition Hall. Total attendance across both days was 10,030, up from 9,434 in 2025 — the first time the show has topped 10,000 visitors (organizer figures, confirmed 2026-09-02).

This page has been rewritten from a pre-event guide into a post-event report. It covers the visitor numbers, how the exhibitor lineup changed, how to get the most out of the venue, and — for anyone who saw a vehicle they liked — how to rent the same type in Hokkaido. 10,030 Visitors Over Two Days: This Year’s Numbers First

All of the figures above come from the Hokkaido Camping Car & Outdoor Show 2026 official page (confirmed 2026-09-02). Admission also included a ¥500 pet care fee per animal, and free entry for a disability certificate holder plus one companion.

Looking at the daily breakdown, 5,006 people came on the first day and 5,024 on the second — almost no difference between Saturday and Sunday. That’s up from 9,434 in 2025, an increase of 596, or about 6%. It’s not a dramatic jump, but it topped the previous year’s 9,434 and put the show over 10,000 visitors for the first time.

What Changed Compared With 2025

The dates, venue, and admission fees stayed the same; what changed was attendance and the exhibitor lineup. Two years running the same admission price is worth noting if you’re budgeting for next time.

The number of vehicles on display for 2026 hasn’t been officially announced (as of 2026-09-02). It’s tempting to compare it with 2025’s “about 80,” but since there’s no organizer figure for this year, we’re not including one here.

This Year’s Exhibitor Lineup Changed a Lot

29 companies exhibited in 2026: 20 brought vehicles, 2 were parts companies, 2 were outdoor gear companies, and 5 were media and other companies. Vehicle exhibitors grew by just one company from 2025’s 19, but the makeup shifted considerably.

New Names for 2026

According to the official exhibitor list (confirmed 2026-09-02), the following companies weren’t on the 2025 list:

• flexdream — builds and sells HiAce-based campervans. Announced on its own blog that this was its first time exhibiting (flexdream official blog, confirmed 2026-09-02)
• Choi Cam
• BEARFIELD
• Dream Drive
• Nissan P’s Field Craft
• Car Interior Takahashi

On the other hand, five companies that exhibited in 2025 — Naniwa, James Baroud, Route Six, Airstream Japan, and Camper Kagoshima — are not on the 2026 exhibitor list. If you went last year hoping to see Airstream’s silver trailer, it wasn’t there this time.

This report doesn’t make claims about whether regulars like Nuts RV, VANTECH, or Hokkaido dealers exhibited this year — we haven’t confirmed that individually. To see exactly who was there, the official exhibitor list is the reliable source.

What the Reshuffle Means

Lining up the names, fewer mainland builders and more HiAce-based van-conversion and kei-camper companies came in. It felt less like a show for viewing large trailers and more like one for comparing vehicles you could realistically drive around Hokkaido — which happens to be the same size class most people rent when touring the island.

We’ll add visitor and exhibitor comments here once we have first-hand sources to work with. For now, this section sticks to what we could confirm officially: the numbers and the exhibitor list.

How to Get the Most Out of the Venue

The venue is the Access Sapporo Large Exhibition Hall, and every vehicle booth was indoors. Late-August Sapporo can swing between warm afternoons and cool evenings, but since everything’s indoors, you can take your time inside the vehicles regardless of the weather — same as previous years.

The tips from our pre-event article still apply this year. Three things matter:

• Arrive right when it opens. Coming at the 10:00 opening lets you photograph popular vehicle interiors without other visitors in the shot. Lines for boarding form by the afternoon.
• Narrow it down to three vehicles. Trying to see all 29 companies evenly means the later ones blur together by the end. Decide in advance what you can only tell from sitting in the actual vehicle — “can four people fit around the dinette?”, “can two adults sleep in the rear bed?” — and you won’t waste time deciding on the spot.
• Ask about delivery time, base-vehicle stock, and show-only deals at each booth. Campervan delivery times are hard to predict because of base-vehicle supply, so these three questions move your decision forward.

Electronic tickets are cheaper than paper — ¥800 in advance versus ¥1,200 on the day, a ¥400 difference that adds up to ¥1,600 for a family of four. Buying an electronic ticket ahead of time is worth it next time too. Parking was free, but with a lot of large vehicles at the venue, arriving early in the morning makes it easier to find a spot.

Getting to the Venue

Access Sapporo is located at 3-55, Ryutsu Center 4-chome, Shiroishi-ku, Sapporo. Parking at the venue was free. Public transport details (nearest station or bus routes) are published on the official page each year, so check there before you go next time. If you plan to spend time with three vehicles and also stop by the parts and media booths, budget about half a day.

Visitors with dogs could bring them into the campervan hall for a ¥500-per-animal pet care fee. Combined with the concurrent Sapporo Dog Festival, it made for a full day out with a dog. Renting the Kind of Vehicle You Saw at the Show

Seeing a vehicle in person rarely leads people to decide to buy it on the spot. What most people do first is rent one and drive it around Hokkaido. This year in particular, the new exhibitors leaned toward vancons and kei-campers that are easy to handle on Hokkaido roads, which makes it a natural next step to rent the same class of vehicle.

Hokkaido’s rental bases are concentrated around New Chitose Airport and central Sapporo, and the vehicles fall into three types: vancons, cabcons, and kei-campers. Here’s a simple way to match what you saw at the show with what you rent:

• Vancon (a converted van such as a HiAce) — most of this year’s new exhibitors fell in this class. Drives like a regular car and fits into city parking lots. The standard choice for two or three people.
• Cabcon (a cab-over camper built on a truck chassis) — enough headroom for a family of four to keep the dinette and sleeping area separate. Wider and taller, so it’s best to avoid narrow roads and multi-story parking.
• Kei-camper — suited to one or two people. Lower running and rental costs, and easy to manage on Hokkaido’s narrower roads. You’ll need to accept tighter storage and sleeping space.

If your schedule brings you to Sapporo for the show, it’s realistic to turn it into a one- or two-night trip around Hokkaido right afterward. Late August is also when several other end-of-summer events happen around the island, making it easy to pair the show with a day-trip hot spring destination from Sapporo. The 2027 Dates Haven’t Been Set Yet

As of 2026-09-02, there’s no official announcement about 2027, and no 2027 page has been published yet. Looking at past dates — August 26–27, 2023; August 31–September 1, 2024; August 30–31, 2025; August 29–30, 2026 — the show has consistently landed on the last weekend of August, so 2027 may follow the same pattern, but nothing is confirmed.

The most reliable way to track the next date is the official page (2026 version), which will be updated when there’s news. The official X account (@hokkaido_cos) also posts announcements. We’ll update this article once an official date is confirmed.
