This is a seasonal facility, open from 1:00 PM on April 25 through 12:00 noon on November 4 in 2026. There’s a dedicated campervan site priced at ¥6,500 normally, ¥5,500 on weekdays. The powered car site B-1 runs ¥5,500 normally, ¥5,000 on weekdays; the unpowered car site B-2 runs ¥4,500 normally, ¥4,000 on weekdays (tax included, confirmed August 11, 2026). 仲洞爺キャンプ場 (Sobetsu town)

If you’d rather stay at a certified RV park, the kurumatabi.com list of 45 facilities shows the closest locations to Lake Toya as Muroran city, Kimobetsu town (Abuta District), and Kutchan town (Abuta District) — 3 in total (confirmed August 11, 2026). We didn’t check the actual distance from Lake Toya this time, so here’s just the general direction: Kimobetsu and Kutchan are toward Mt. Yotei and Niseko, and Muroran is along the Uchiura Bay coast.

What We Learned From Actually Visiting Lake Toya in Summer

What follows is a firsthand account from visiting Lake Toya in summer. The lakeside gets crowded with visitors in summer, and there was a different kind of enjoyment by night and by day that a guide to where to stay alone can’t capture.

First, the nights. During our stay, fireworks went up over the lake every single night. Tourists nearby gathered by the lakefront each evening to watch the display. One advantage we actually felt from sleeping in the campervan was not having to worry about a lodging curfew, which made it easy to time our evenings around this kind of nighttime entertainment. The fireworks schedule can change, so check the official Toyako Onsen information before you go.

During the day, we’d recommend parking the car and taking a boat over to Nakajima Island in the middle of the lake. On the island you can walk slowly through nature, and we even found a Miyama stag beetle there. If you’re traveling with a kid who loves insects, that alone is enough to fill half a day.
